A Lover's Lullaby

By: Jessica Catherine John

Lay your head on my heart,
Close your eyes,
And I’ll sing you a lover’s lullaby.

Drift away from the world’s insanity,
Fall into a sheltered sleep,
I’ll take you where tears are things of mystery,
And where your soul may freely be.

Because I love you, is the Why,
My deepest affection,
Heard only in a lover’s lullaby.

I’ll heal your wounds,
And ease your pain,
Let no storm reach you,
Ever again.

Feel my heart beating,
I hear you sigh,
I’m singing you a lover’s lullaby.

Gently I will stroke your hair,
Stroke your cheeks and kiss your lips,
Never will you shed a tear,
Because I will be there, forever, like this.

May you dream, and think of me,
And how our love will never die,
Only these words I whisper to you,
In a lover’s lullaby.
