The First Time

By: michael l babb

There I was, walking up to your door,
hands were shaking and my face was red.
I was going to see the girl that I adored,
her striking looks sent a shudder,
and this is what she said...

"Oh, Darling, that look you have is bright,
and to this I might reply,
Baby, seeing you is a beautiful sight,
and if I lost you, I'd want to die."

How do you do that thing you do?
It's like you have never seen me before,
it is more than I ever knew.
Through the air my heart does soar.

There I am, walking down your walkway,
wishing I was still with you.
There are still so many things left to say,
but I will let the morning rise and lift the dew.
