When I looked at you
I saw everything
I ever needed.
When I held you
I felt everything
I ever wanted.
And when I talked to you
there was more love there
than I've ever desired.
Because of this
fear enveloped me
with any thought
of being without you.
I thought my life
would be incomplete
without you in it.
But when you decided

the tears only lasted

The pain lingers
but only on the surface
