Thank You, Scott

By: Natalie McCall

As I lay down to sleep, I notice that tonight I didn't weep.
Everyday for almost four years
I would lay down at night
And fight the tears.
Sometimes the nights were scary
I would lay there still
Wondering if he was asleep.
Or if he was looking for a will.
He would kiss me and hold me.
From time to time
He'd whisper sweet nothings
And quote romantic rhymes.
But there was always something missing
There were all those restless nights
I know he has changed a lot
But I can't seem to forget all our fights.

A couple of weeks ago
I noticed an open door.
I realized maybe I will be just fine,
I don't need to wait for him anymore.
No longer trapped by my feelings
I am setting out for a new life.
It's time to move on
And tell him I won't be his wife.
New horizons have come into view.
I want to be young and free
And thanks to my newly found Old friend
Once again I found me.
