Reflection

Looking into a face
Much like my own
Not understanding
Just where I had gone wrong
She looked so sad
She looked so hurt
She was reaching out
She wanted some help
I didn’t know what to do
I didn’t know what to say
I didn’t know how to react
So she simply faded away
Now I hesitate to look into a mirror
Because when I do
I fear that she will appear
I don’t understand why it took me so long
To realize that lonely little girl
Was a reflection of myself
That little girl is me
Just a reflection
Staring me in the face
