Her Secret Cry

By: Anonymous12

She sits in her chair
feeling lonely and afraid,
waiting for someone
to find out her name.

Maybe she would spill out
her secret thoughts to you--
then her loneliness
soon would be through.

But no one would question her
about that dreadful night--
the night when she saw
the most hideous sight.

A man came running toward her--
a man she didn't know.
He squeezed her throat
and wouldn't let go.

She screamed and shouted,
but nobody could hear.
Her heart started thumping.
Her body swelled with fear.

She struggled, kicked,
begged, and pleaded,
but it wasn't enough
to get the help she needed.

He threw her to the ground
and put a knife to her back.
He told her this night
would be her last.

She had no choice
but to remain still,
hoping he didn't feel
the need to kill.

The cold metal blade
was pressed to her skin.
She knew there was no way out.
She knew she could never win.

There she lay, helpless,
on the ground,
silently screaming for mercy,
but no one was around.

He finally let her up
and laughed at his "achievement,"
knowing he didn't have
the girl's slightest agreement.

He stared at her for a while
before he walked away.
He took a picture of her
to show his friends the very next day.

His eyes were as cold
as the darkest Winter.
His glare was sharper
than a Summer's splinter.

Now, years later,
she stares out her window,
remembering the night
that cast her shadow.

Some say she is crazy;
but if only they knew
all of the hardships
she has been through...

Some say she could have stopped it
if she wanted to,
but she knows deep down
there was nothing she could do.

When she looks back,
all she sees is pain.
It's too bad
she will never be sane.
