The Man I Once Loved

By: Charity Maria Stewart

The man I once loved was left in my heart
As the years passed by the wind tore it completely apart
My body was broken in pieces everywhere
Breathe in deeply, I couldn't inhale the air

Where is the man I once truly loved?
The one the Lord sent me from heaven above
Nowhere to be found, where could he have gone?
Voices telling me it's time to carry on

Suddenly, I remember him being down deep in my heart
No emotion, no pain, because my inside is broken apart
The man I once loved has taken my heart forever
Prayers, comfort, love it will still be whatever

My conscious reminding me, ‘it's not going to get any better’
Henry stated, “Give me Liberty, or give me Death”
Give me the man I once love or take my life and what’s left
The man I once loved faded in the stream of light
He took my dream, heart, and life

Thank God, I will see him in the next life
By killing my very gift called ‘life’
However, I know I will never see the man I once loved
Because he is a allusion of the night
Which is someone I dream lately of.
