N-LOVE

By: Kenneth Ray Carmichael

Ridiculous how rhyming lines usually would suffice
A few stanzas performed for her under moonlight
Several roses, a card with Cupid in different poses
This is simple love without movement or conflict

She must know how the pangs in my heart grow
I must proclaim it to the masses, like a king from his throne
Listen, from this single moment there is no "I"
There's only "we" and "she" and no, there's no analogy
Maybe sand to beach, moreover, like burn to sun

Seasons and reasons have no space nor meaning
We float above floors, soar, then fly through ceilings
No end in sight, time does not 'tock,' not even a 'tick'
Nothing really starts or stops we just exist, we just exist
