No Tomorrow

By: Michael Hawley

It will slip into forgotten
a jaded memory
A page that's left empty
to you, but never empty to me

A thing that never happened
or so easily mislaid
Buried in forever
with no flowers on its grave

To an evening without starlight
n'er to touch the light of day
A summer faded saffron
eclipsed in autumn's shade

I cast myself a reverie
a sweet eternal borrow
For you gave me only yesterdays
when I was searching for tomorrow
