Path to Her Love

By: Charles R Walling

With feathered soul she glides slowly down
Silently trailing a floral white gown
She stands lightly on air and begins with a sigh
Held captive with the crystal stare from her eyes

Music filled every corner of my world
The soft notes of her voice slowly unfurled
The swirling winds calmed so all could hear
As she spoke her first word my heart cried a tear

She spoke of my love, though she knew not
That I held the heart and the love she sought
I stood before her trying to gain
Her sight, her attention, so I could explain

My love would only be for her
No other could hold me nor would I prefer
I began to speak, but no matter my plea
She looked to the world, then directly at me

A love that could only come once in a lifetime
Was cut from my chest with a very dull knife
For this was a woman now only in my head
The Lord chose to take her to Heaven, instead

As I watched her rise to the sky above
I knew she was showing me the path to her love
