An Angel For Me

By: Darrell Lamar Williams

The moment it all changes,
Hints of glimmering eyes,
A smile that says a little more,
Relative philosophies and laughter,
Finding yourselves around each other,
Attracted.

Touches become more than incidental,
Hugs become necessity,
And when a kiss on the cheek sends you swirling,
And that first real kiss,
When lips meet,
Matching each other instinctively,
And it feels right,
You know it’s right.

Eyes become hypnotizing, they talk,
Voices turn into music so therapeutic.
Absence finds you pleasurably aching,
Aching for the one who occupies your every thought,
Actions seem effortless,
Trying seems unnecessary.

Togetherness is a dance perfectly choreographed,
And when you hear those words,
And the words ring true and sincere,
So real, they’re almost visible,
Then you know it has happened.

Troubles become trivial,
Worries become afterthoughts.
Every action has a reason,
Each stride is purposeful.

You can stop bullets,
Lift cars,
The heart beats stronger,
It beats for another,
And it’s always there, no matter what you do,
The feeling of being valuable,
Being precious,
Being loved.
