A Curious Sun Killed Our Joy

By: okwudili paul nwankwo

Once upon a night
Everything seemed right.
Even the moon was out,
And lovers in the garden held tight.

The earth appeared a wonderland
As lovers strolled hand-in-hand;
Their worries buried at the back of their heads
And the moon enviously smiled down on them.

Envious squirrels peeked from tree holes,
While the oldies slept soundly in the house,
Not minding the meat stolen by the mouse.

Lovers were sure to have fun till dawn,
But the sun too wanted a peek and morning had come.
