the way things began

By: sovann pen

I wish things were the way they used to be.
Remember the first time you were introduced to me?
You were eighteen and I was a year younger.
Didn’t think I had a chance, but just a mere wonder.
What if you did like me,
Or if you were already his wifey?
Either way, my giving up was very unlikely,
'Cause that might have been my life's opportunity
And for once, I was determined to pursue my goal,
Which was to one day fall in love and give YOU my whole.
First time we actually spoke was that day at the park.
I fell in love with your eyes and the way that they sparked.
The way that you smiled at me and the way that you laughed
Uplifted my hopes and had me thinking perhaps,
If I was crazy enough to ask, maybe you'd be my lady at last.
But I couldn’t, 'cause I was too scared and shy.
You left me speechless every time I stared in your eyes,
So we decided to kicked it for about a week or two,
Then finally I was actually able to speak to you.
It was the thirteenth of May on a Sunday night.
I knew that i was headed on a one way flight.
Ain't no turning back once I accept your heart.
It's been eighteen months and I haven't forgotten the start.
We took a nice walk around water place park,
I figured this was the perfect place it ought to take part.
So you gave me your hand and I became your man,
I've loved you since and I have no change of plans...
