Treasure of the sea

By: Dee G.

Docking my ship along the beach,
Alone I stand, staring out at the rough sea,
Wishing and praying that its waves will soon calm
And reveal its hidden treasure held tightly within its palm.

Hoping a gentle breeze will glide the treasure toward me,
Letting me rescue it and truly set it free,
Then watch its pain and tears fade into the past,
As it once again sets out on land, knowing its freedom will last.

Yet, I can't keep the tears from my eyes,
For this day may tell me if I hoped and dreamed of lies,
But for now, all I can do is wait,
And see what happens when the sea calms and gives its treasure to fate.
