Good news actually traveling fast, the word proclaimed across the land
The primary chapter of decade nine opens, the gathering few but grand
What does it mean to see eighty years, in vain my brain I undress
When I stand at those crossroads, will my life have beeen as blessed?
Strike up the candle of memories, let it penetrate dark hiding places
Listen to its soothing whisper, let its warming tongues caress faces
Let the wildfire dine where it may, the perfect masseuse when unguided
Blink and miss its satiated leap, liberating the next wick provided
Uncovering tiny joys born in 1920, some that same frosty November hour
Though to your Mommy and Daddy's eyes, only one jewel was devoured
For the remainder of their days, both gleamed from lives made richer
Two creations begat their dreams, the culprits you and little sister
Piercing the dense Depression's fog, you were their miracle of hope
They gave love boundless and tangible, when so much went up in smoke
Afterward you met your life's love, one August your hand he would win
Chapel organs must have danced, for not every day does forever begin
Alight pink balloons that swam Heaven, for the birth of each daughter
Love's evidence delivered thrice, to a wide eyed new mother and father
Now husbands have your beauties, delivered with their own apple seeds
You shall fall like your baby's baby, when you meet my Amanda Marie
Set aglow your enchanted storybooks, my guides through dream terrain
I almost heard steam happily whistle, conducting Papa's toy trains
When my future fruit falls in your lap, your pet names will be heaped
Give them hugs and kisses goodnight, so warmth permeates their sleep
Homage shall come from every tongue, torch vaulting over exclusion
Still migrating most to your cheeks, the sweetest rose hued illusion
