A puzzlement falls over me
I know not what to say,
How can I say "I love thee"
When the one yI care for may say only "Nay"?
But, perhaps he does not think this way
Perhaps he shall agree,
But, if he would not, I daresay,
It would devastate me.
There is but one way to find out
The answer to this que.,
I must take a daring chance,
And whisper... an "I love you".
I say the words, I hold my breath
The answer will hold true
And, Joy!, the answer to my prayer
Is the awaited "I love you, too"
