Who Would Not Be Dismayed?

By: Jaffer Saleh Safwan

Who would not be dismayed
By you, the damask rose of the garden
Since the fragrance poured out from you
You - all the perfumes of Arabia
And all the musk of India

Who would not be captivated
By you, the Madonna of Eden
Since the light shone from you
You – the nymph of all heavens
And the Venus of all Stars

Who would not be delighted
By you, the song of all love songs
Since the music enlivened my soul
You – the symphony I sheltered in my heart
And the strings I ruffled with my hand

Who would not be dismayed
By you, the joy of all hearts?
