Shallow Love

By: Black Rose

My love not unlike a budding rose
Has it's beauty and has it's thorns
Although my affections quickly rose
They fell into a field of thorns
Where crows did devour without a pause
Without a question, without a cause

Now in my dreams I scream and mutter
Filled with pain, shame and wonder
My love was took and sent to scatter
Now I stand alone in fields to ponder
What was it that love could not withstand
That left me a beggar holding out my hand

My hopes of starting again renew
I'll search and smear this lowly Earth
To find a soul whose heart I knew
The one who holds my dreams, my breath
To embrace my love, my faults, my flesh
Rebuild my soul and start afresh

And remorse was sent to hell from me to perch
Away it went and took a fall
Now it wanders in blindness search
In phoenix waters in a spiky hall
And through this all it was shred asunder
Now it's gone and can no longer hinder
