From Where We Are
Slowly it falls
traveling its transient path;
slowly, painfully
downward to her lips.
Falling, salty tears
of life now shattered;
she lifts a hand
brushes love away.
Softly she sighs,
into a glass darkly
she looks for a sign
but only a face stares back.
She waits and prays,
for what she doesn't know;
gone, gone all of it now,
where did you go?
Coldness creeps
thru her lonely vigil;
Eyes squeeze tightly
closed -- she stifles a scream.
Lonely waiting
she does it all day;
and night falls hard
and heavy -- awake.
Finally she lies down,
no safety anywhere;
Lingering in a world
she is trapped-alone.
