Burned

It's just one more lesson
That I haven't yet learned
If I stand too close to the fire
I'm going to get burned

Another poem of heartache and sorrow
Another cry for sympathy
Another two arms reaching out
Needing you to hold on to me

But I just let myself fall
Over and over again
Once more kicked down
Left behind trying to cope with the pain

I'm falling into a hole
And digging myself deeper and deeper each time
Forgetting my heart, forgetting my head
And praying for you to be mine
