Alone
The sands of the desert surround me
Loneliness howling in my heart
Like the far off coyotes
Moon shadows playing between cacti and sagebrush
Night breezes chilling my skin
Rustling leaves brittle as your parting

Heat
Laying over me like a heavy blanket
I rest beneath a gnarled old tree to escape the day
A smiling stranger brings new emotional refreshment
Words of encouragement and a fresh perspective,
Blinding light softens to
Hope

Laughter
Sends the coyotes scurrying away
Waves lapping at our feet, cooling the sand
The path is not ended, but twisting in a new direction
Where travelers join hands and walk in unison
Sharing vision, expectation
