Goddess
She sat and stared beside the pond,
startled eyes, golden hair,
she sat and stared, I stood transfixed,
drawn deep into her pools of blue.
Beside the pond in pre-washed jeans,
a floppy top and feet so bare,
cooling in the ripples there,
beneath a sun that filtered down
and placed a crown upon her hair.
What goddess have I come upon,
disguised in jeans and floppy top,
can this be real or have I dreamed,
the places where the goddess preens?
There she looked into my eyes,
further was I mesmerized,
she smiled, I heard the creatures sigh,
nor could I dare believe my eyes.
Do goddesses in pre-washed jeans,
floppy tops and flowing hair,
dip their toes in quiet ponds,
and watch the ripples slowly glide?
The sun retired behind a cloud,
shadows raced along the ground,
and when the sun came back to play,
my goddess was no longer there.
Who is this dream in human form,
this goddess in her flawless guise?
I lost her as I found her there,
with saddened heart I wandered home.
My wife was standing at the door,
in twilight was her hair so fair.
I looked into her eyes and saw,
My goddess... was smiling there.
