My Lover Stands Before Me

By: Lisa A. Ertolahti

My lover stands before me
Head of pure gold
Hair black as raven
With waves from the sea.
Eyes like pearls
Glistening in the moonlight,
Cheeks of autumn leaves
Sprinkled with cinnamon,
Lips like the passionate complexion of roses
Carrying sweet drops of dew.
A body of shining armour
Enhanced with rubies.
His legs are as pillars of marbles
Set upon golden bases.
His appearance is perfection
Choice in every way.
His mouth bears honeysuckle itself,
He is altogether radiant.
This is my lover
My lover stands before me;
