A Walk By The Seaside
Hand in hand, we walked along the beach,
Leaving footprints on the shore.
Yours beside mine,
Mine beside yours.
Fleeting impressions in the sand,
For the never-ending tide of time,
Washes them away again.
How long must I suffer the thunder
Of a thousand voices in the crashing waves,
Calling out your name!
Retracing my steps I find
Only empty, crushed shells.
No sign that we walked here,
No proof you were once mine.
