Broken Heart

By: Ruby Jean Buzzell

When I was with him, great joy I felt
He's my first thought within morning's clear eye.
Sharing his time, making my heart melt
He's my last thought, bidding evening good-bye.

A golden ring bought to prove his love
Cozy and comfortable, sharing time.
Driving hours to say he missed his true love
Quietly sneaking, forbidden as a crime.

His passion drove his thoughts, demanding my love
My self-respect was lost in his attention.
Months and months of passions ask and submit,
Destroyed my self-respect, his intention?

Thirteen months went by
And we drifted apart.
It had to end
Because he broke my heart.
