Fire

By: Andrew C. Admire

A girl from school became my best friend,
And I knew everything about her.
Our friendship created a fire,
Bright enough to blind the eyes of anyone who looked at it,
And strong enough to withstand a hurricane.
As we moved on in our lives,
We communicated less and less.
The strong and bright fire that would never die,
Was slowly vanishing right before my eyes.
I tried to put more life into it,
But with much effort I failed.
Now I can only stand and watch,
As our beautiful fire dies.
I try not to believe that it is happening,
By staying happy when I talk with her.
But even though she doesn't see.
The fire dying as we talk.
I can't help but to see,
That our great friendship is dying
with the ever-lasting fire.
