Forever in My Heart

By: Christina Hutchinson

As I lie here under this roof of disparity,
thoughts of you flash through my mind.
How I long to be with you, to see your smile,
to feel your lingering touch,
for you to engulf me with your presence
and to look into your mysterious blue eyes.

Soon I'm mesmerized by your stare,
you have me completely spun into your web.
You have stolen my heart, my soul, and my mind.
What have you done to me? What is this powerful feeling?
A touch so deep, powerful enough to give a blind man sight,
to make a dead heart start to beat again.

I'm speechless, powerless, frozen forever in time.
Your spell has worked on me,
I am under your control and I shall never break free.
I am numb. You are my everything:
my smile in times of sadness,
my only light in a world of darkness.
What would I become without you?
I would be nothing, a dead soul looking for my grave.

I dream of you in the day, and reach for you in the night.
But you left as quickly as you came.
So, my sun shall not rise in the morning,
for without you the day will be as black as the night.
I reach for you once more... but you do not come.
You are gone and have taken every part of me with you.
