Loneliness

By: Natasha Parvez Hooda

An empty vase standing on a sill,
not moving, ever so still and lifeless,
alone on the big brown shelf,
waiting for someone to rescue it.

A colourful shell lying on a beach,
so small and away from reach,
on the vast white sands,
secluded from all the other shells.

The need to be loved by someone,
the need to be happy and share again,
to fill the vase with flowers once more,
and to bring it back to life again
