Thank You

By: Sunday B. Fakus

You gave me food when I was hungry
You made my body know true love every season
You provided for me in my misery
You sheltered me with the warmth of your chest

You spoke to me words of everlasting love
You lifted up my spirit when I was down
You washed clean all my filthy thoughts
You made my heart know no fear again

You rescued my soul from loneliness of life
You made me live in the solitude of your love
You raised me above my enemy’s traps
You stretched out your hand to cover my shame

You promised me you’d never leave or forsake me
You gave me sweet relief from all my grieves
You summoned up all my bad memories
You destroyed them with the stroke of your hand

I appreciate everything you did to me
I’m grateful that you came into my life
I’ll always thank you as long as I live
Forever more with every beat of my heart
