He of Water, She of Earth

By: Avery Robertson

His soul dwelled within the sea,
his eyes as dark as dark could be.
His heart would ebb and flow,
towards lands,
she held high within her hands.

This woman he loved was of the earth,
all that lived, she'd given birth.
Life flowed within her veins, like blood.
She, the Mistress of night and day,
for when she sang, the world obeyed.

He flowed gently towards her with yearning.
She pulled him softly towards the learning;
of worlds within worlds, lives within lives.
Her eyes, bright green, would glow
as she watched their love bloom and grow.

She belonged to him, never to another,
his love grew deep inside like a child in a mother.
His passion swirled around her feet
but her earth stood firm below his sea,
The heavens smiled down, they would always be.

And so the sea was where he would reign,
and the lands, if she left, would feel the pain,
But when they loved the world stood still,
the moon, the stars and the sun,
blessed this union, as two became- one.
