Heaven's Breath

By: Erik V. King

What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East and Juliet is the sun . . .
Ah but alas, my heart and hands are not for fair Juliet.
My desire is for one who shares the same golden hair
and has bands of gold dancing in the verdant pools of her eyes.
The feel of yon' eyes over my pale and sweaty skin
collapses my walls with the subtle force of a dream.
Up walls and down ravines I would climb and trek
to feel the cloud-soft skin that covers her cheeks,
her heart, and her lips.
So sweet is the perfume of her mollifying breath
that bees travel from honey-filled combs to fill their head
with the delight. And her kiss, Oh her kiss!
It is like running my hand over a soft bubbling brook,
so soft and natural to my touch. Be it fanciful desire or
an answer to all my questions and prayers,
be it heaven and nature gathering their powers
to enrich the world -- let it be what it may be,
I just hope I am allowed the chance to share in the venture.
