If I said...

By: Jennifer Kay Mitchell

If I said I love you (that old familiar tune)
Would you wrap your arms around me
and kiss my silent cheek?
Or would you turn away
and listen to my heart bleed?
As you wear a smile on your cold, dark face.

Did I want to fall into your depth?
That question has no answer, and
no response would satisfy you anyway.
When you look at me do you feel the same,
or is only lust apart of your game?

Why do you shoot me with you piercing eyes, and
caress me with your smile?
How clever you are to have entrapped me this way.
Or has the ignorance blinded you, to my wanting stares?

You're a man after my heart and you haven't a clue,
or has the devil himself sent you to destroy my world?
So many wonders before my eyes, so still.
If you asked me my thoughts, I'm sure you'd be afraid.

No man of any age could understand
the caress of a loving womans' touch ,
or the glazed over whites of her eyes.
Why is it that no one has ever understood
my deepest emotions...
