To Love Again

By: Rebecca Walkins Randle

The sky turned gray... the sun turned black;
I gave my love... he turned his back.
Buildings collapsed, and cities burned.
Just once to feel his warmth, I yearned.
The birds fell down, and stars hung slanted,
He took my "ruby heart" for granted.
Oceans spilled, and mountains tipped,
From dejected shell... my soul was ripped.
He destroyed my world, then sauntered on,
Leaving fire and flood... yet also - dawn.
Now there's morning dew, and flowers blooming,
singing birds... a heart resuming.
