untitled 2

By: Jason Randolph Blain

The cold has come out of the darkness
and imprisoned my heart with sorrow.
It has clouded my eyes with images of death
and enveloped my soul in a shroud of fear.
It has left me adrift in the wake of tragedy
and falling to my death from the flight of love.
It has broken the bonds of happiness,
and eclipsed the light of joy.
It encloses me within walls of pain
and stabs at me with misery and guilt.
It has taken away everything good in my life,
and left nothing but the inviting promises of death.
