My Spring

By: Roland John Olson

The green of my life's blooming tree
Smells sweet and free
The sun of your love
Sparkles true and bright

Each leaf, gathering life from you
Each winter killed branch, sheathed in new bark
My roots, they draw from the soil of memory
I spring, arms outstretched, rustling in the wind

I give better shade now, stronger to the storm
Your nourishment makes each cell of my being alive
Osmosis of true love, doubled and redoubled
Constant to the eye, yet changing to the pith

Your name is carved upon my trunk
The spring's return makes sugar drip from the mark
I am your maple and you my summer sun
We create what always was- harmony of two... made one
