The Summer is Hot

By: Eurlantae

The summer is hot, oh, the burning, the burning
And there's no relief... save a change in the weather.
Without such a change only time will endeavor
To cool all the burning, to cool all the pain.

To crystallize memories and making them frigid
Allow such a view of a searing condition
That heat and frustration are merely dim shadows
That pass through the ether of yesterdays suffering.

But changes in weather, more welcome than lapses
In memories of promises burned by the summer,
Of a spring that exploded into a hot summer
Where bonds being broken released their emotion.

A change in the weather may come to the summer
But what will the new weather hold for the summer.
Will terrible winds come to summer to test him
Or soft gentle breezes to cool and caress him.

I've felt summers breezes, I've kissed and caressed her,
Been cooled by the weather of gentler climates.
I've sensed and experienced, with feelings long buried,
The hope and joy that can come with cool weather.

But the coolness of summer may be a diversion
That holds you and binds you with lines that are golden.
It traps you and makes you forget all the suffering
That hot weather brings, with renewed agitation.

Will again come the heat with its awful tormenting
To burn at the fabric of yesterdays caring.
Destroying the memories of long summer evenings
Where feeling and touching and softly discussing

The change in the weather and how it affected
Our memories of crying for help from the weather
Of fearing to die without help from the weather.
Oh please, let it not come again- come again.

Yes, please make the summer so cool and refreshing.
Have wonderful feelings in summer surround me.
Make summer move slowly and coolly to autumn
And let seasons pass with no change in the weather.

I've felt summers heat, I don't want it around me
Let cooling and loving and hope take its place.
