The Elements Of A Solitary Man

By: Rory Williams

The cracks in the pavement interrupt each step,
While I balance on the precipice of a solid rock slept

No fear of descending as I stand ten feet tall,
I lean in and wash my hands in the water that falls

A hurricane approaches while I leap over a volcano,
The eruption scolds my feet as the wind takes my halo

Landing in a field, my aching feet comforted by grass,
My eyes squint to the sun and weep tears of glass

Holding onto the wind, I grasp the oxygen in my hands,
while it travels through my grip onto the next

...solitary man.
