Paint Over Blue

By: Tommy Longley

Innocence in eyes so blue, Beauty like a princess
Whose fairytale came true

I watched you love and watched you lose
Then beautiful turned blue

I felt your pain, I watched on as you cried
Beauty faded and began to die

Confused in truth, which path to choose
I tried to help but nothing would do

Slowly but surely, you regained your composure
You charged on as a lonely soldier

I reached down, to help you up
I didn't realize, you passed me up

Then as is life, my world was torn apart
I fell in love with a careless lover who precariously broke my heart

Dumb and foolish, call it naive
I knew it would happen but I didn't believe

Pain is a terrible cross to bare
You knew and without hesitation you were there

Slowly but surely, I regained my composure
I charged on as a broken soldier

Today we walk, our pride is intact
Looking forward with only one reason to look back

You were there for me and me for you
We painted happy over the color blue
