Liverless

By: Obinwanne Seaman Barry

My heart speaks in tongue
Mumbling, rumbling, grumbling in parables
At the sight of you.
Just like a prayer warrior in a thicket,
My heart screams inaudibly as it beholds you.
It pushes me with a prime passionate push of protest
And swoops my strength into my legs.
As I move, I stop, only halfway,
As fear resonates madly within;
With a rat-a-tat of inordinate beatings,
Against the walls of my chest.
An unholy war stages within,
Between my soul and the physical,
As I fail to talk to you.
