To Janie

By: Robert Santellana Acosta

Dreams of you,
Laughing, lying together,
Pointing at the constellations,
Glancing, you asked, "Do you love me?"

Growling I said, "No."
You look at me stangely,
Walking away,
Smiling, turning, smiling.

Silhouetted by sunlight,
Disappearing into Red,
Calling, crying,
"Do you love me?"

I ran and awoke screaming,
"I do not love you!"
And only the dresser mirror's eyes,
Stared, judging me,

While you were sleeping.
