How Could you?

By: Nick J Benson

You deceived me
You never once believed me
You left when you knew you could get no closer, you tugged
To my chest my hand flew, my heart my hand hugged
In my parched throat no air ran
And then throbbingly my pain began
Deep and cruel the wound was wrought
Though no things my body fought
No word you said to me was true
But all lies in lieu
I thought you were sincere, sincere you were not
Deep down I felt the pain continue to run I had been shot
From no weapon this projectile came
It was no machine behold you are to blame
Now even at the end I cannot care more for myself than you
But at my care you laugh my soul you slew.
What life I have left I must muster
To you I am dust and you are the duster.
