All By Myself

By: Dana Lauren Tapper

I should just give up; let these fantasies go.
He doesn’t even know I’m there; I could never let my feelings show.
It hurts even more to think of him, loving someone new.
Almost as painful as the realization, it was I who declared it through.
I feel the same knot of fear, although it’s not because of love.
It’s a feeling that starts in your heart and spreads to the mind above.
The thought that one day it will just be me, declaring
through my tears, I’m forlorn.
Without you there to comfort me, I’m by myself, all alone.
