Cinderella
Her small hand placed delicately inside the prince's hands,
Twirling and spinning, her heart glowing as they stand.
Cinderella smiled and shyly lowered her head,
Prince Charming raised it lightly, and kissed her lips instead.
Leading her out on a romantic moonlight path,
Her giggle a little twinkle, his humorous throaty laugh.
Floating together, a silhouette in the light,
Suddenly her life seemed perfect, and altogether right.
Although he didn’t know her for who she truly was,
She loved him for making her realize, one is not what she does.
All of a sudden she was a princess, a woman in his eyes,
Yet inside a timid girl, struggling not to cry.
The clock struck twelve, her eyes filled with fear,
He looked at her expectantly, and down her cheek ran a silent tear.
If only she would have said the truth, made him love her for
who she was,
Then they’d still be together, and he wouldn’t love her
just “because”.
