That Last Goodbye
He looked at her slowly,
tears filled his eyes.
The hurt would never go away,
nor would the truth of her lies.
She told him she would be okay,
assured him she'd be there always.
Then left him alone and scared,
full of time and endless days.
She lays there silently,
her eyes so innocently placed.
He put his hand up to her cheek,
and like always, his heart begins to race.
He misses her compulsively,
the walks in the sand.
Decides with firsts there must come lasts,
and puts his lips up to her hand.
No longer would they run together,
love and promise truth,
She was lost in her childhood,
he continues on his youth.
