Daddy's Little Girl

By: Terry-Lynn Johnson

You may remember yesterday ...
it wasn't so far away
your little girl with a twinkle in her eye
begged you to buy a doll she did spy
She tugged on your shirt sweetly pleading, "please"
So, you finally gave into her precious pleas
and bought the doll, Oh, she did say,
I love her – but forgetting the next day.

You may remember yesterday ...
it wasn't so far away
your little girl waited patiently
for her daddy to come home from work to see
what an achievement she had made
of passing with honours her first grade
You lovingly swung her around in a twirl
as proud as can be of your little girl.

You may remember yesterday ...
it wasn't so far away
to her innocent look her dress did enhance
as she waited to be driven to her first dance
her hair had lost some of youth's curl
but to you she still was your little girl.

You may remember yesterday ...
it wasn't so far away
She sat over the coffee steam
as she told you of her current dreams
She also discussed many current events
for she had 'learnt' what politics meant
Her hair had lost some of youth's curl
but to you she still was ...
your little girl.

I wish you a Happy Father's Day Dad
and love you for precious moments we've had.
