Inopportune Farewell

By: Biana Yanovsky

How can I tell you how I feel
when you might turn your back on me;
How can I let you know how much I care
when you might never see?

How can I go on
knowing you are leaving?
Knowing I might never see you again,
prevents me from even breathing.

How can I just forget
your gorgeous smile?
That's what makes everything I hate,
so wonderful and worthwhile.

How can I ignore the width of my wound
and depth of my pain?
My spirit is broken,
my attempts so vain.

I'll remember you,
when I think back to that year.
I met you with a smile,
and departed with a tear.
