Night Poem
And now I lay myself to rest
beneath the soft sky in nature's bed.
As the music from all the world runs through my head,
How I love you my dear.. Oh, how I love you!
My eyes overflow from all the bliss you have shown,
The strength I have received from your gentle words..
And the night is at ease as I grasp your hand
whispering this simple phrase
How I love you my dear.. Oh, how I love you!
Your figure has escaped my mind,
And my palm lies limp by my side..
But I can hear your anodyne voice as you urge me
Please.. do not cry.
And my heart aches,
as I am swept to my feet..
Taken from my becalming world with you,
And slowly, I awake
Look around and mutter, "How I love you my dear..
Oh, how I love you!"
