Silence of the Heart
Standing on the edge, lingering between worlds.
Peering over.
Endless abound before your eyes.
Melting soft wisps of clouds and hazy frets of dark.
Wondering eyes about.
Voices calling, colored lights
Spinning, falling, rising up again.
Insides twisting, blood flowing from your head.
world turning, rolling over on itself.
Pools of frozen crystallized ice, lakes of blazing rock.
Body tense, path before you not yet seen.
Breathing labored, stumbling to be caught.
Nerves within a weakened state, resonating with your pulse.
Look out upon the trail, which way does it lead?
Take a step, the voices call, can you hear them?
Swallow back lumps of hiding fear held within your throat.
World of spinning colored light, take a step and breath.
Lips forming familiar syllables, those that you've thought so long.
Aching now they burn, trying to come out.
All is silent, time has stopped, eagerly she waits.
Close your eyes and take that step, ahead now lies your fate.
Cracking lips and foaming dried mouth, the words you try to speak.
Standing empty, you stare out blindly, the words you want to shout.
Dear God you pray:
Give me strength to ask her out.
