Angel of Maine

By: David Fronius

I envisioned an angel on the rocky shores
of Cape Elizabeth this day
and how I lost my heart to her
yes, she stole it straight away
looking o'er the oceans' blue
white caps seemingly playing
cool breezes and sunset hue
such a sight was beyond saying
I started to approach her slowly
as not to frighten her away
but she already knew I was there
turning and gazing- me, she did sway
a rose among the rocks she is to me
a flower beautifying a special place
this is where her heart will always be
I can see the serenity in her face
my angel, though she is always flying
so close as to touch heaven
tears from her eyes, not from crying
but a love freely given
I shall always remember her this way
at sunset, on the coast of Maine
together on this beautiful day
anticipating stormy nights and rain
