Every Time

By: Nadia Varkovsky

It was a freezing day in winter
When I saw an angel
Extending her wings across my face
Gracing me with her saintly presence

I couldn’t sleep that very night
Thinking about her lovely smile
Her penetrating warm gaze
Going deep inside my heart

My heart melts
Every time I look into her eyes
Every time she smiles at me
And my soul feels like it’s in heaven

Is this what love feels like?
The warm fuzzy feeling inside
The sweetness of your gaze
And the softness of your skin

My heart beats faster
As my pace quickens
Beads of sweat begin to form
As I try to keep up with you

I see you walking on the beach
The water gently lapping against your feet
As the waves beckon for you
And the sun shines for you

you have such a joyous laugh
A colorful smile
That beautifies your face
Every time I look at you

I don’t think I’ve seen such a fair creature before
I long for your gaze to linger on me
Your gentle hands to brush my arms
And those slender fingers to tease me

Every time you look at me
My chest feels heavy inside
Every time you turn to me
I blush and turn away

If only you could ever realize
That mesmerizing beauty
That captivating voice
And that paralyzing smile

Every time you look at me
I turn away
Because I simply could never imagine
What a goddess like you could ever see in someone like me
